Lohri celebration at ‘The Home for Old and Destitute’







On the auspicious occasion of Lohri, we visited and celebrated lohri with the elderly residents of ‘The Home for Old and Destitute’, Sec-15. This place is home for about 20 aged people who have been abandoned by their own children. Cultural programme and bhajans were presented by the students of UIET, Chandigarh and members of The Nature Cure Society to entertain the elders. The celebrations generated loads of happiness.

Visit to the Don Bosco Navjeevan Home on November 8th ‘07









Think of these kids when sparklers light up Diwali sky

The Don Bosco Navjeevan home is a rehabilitation center and home for 23 kids from very poor backgrounds. Their families gave away these kids because they found themselves incapable of feeding another child. Thanks to the Don Bosco society, the kids are being looked after very well.

We, the AID Chandigarh volunteers went there to celebrate Diwali with the kids and make it a little special for them. The kids made Diwali cards and enjoyed themselves by lighting candles, followed by a long session of singing songs and dancing. It was a pleasure watching their little faces lit up with bright smiles, after all true celebration of diwali is when we bring joy into others lives...
